About

Somebody has to read the whole pile.

Balatro was signed because one person at a publisher checked every new Steam release, every day, by hand — and one day the pile contained a poker roguelike from an unknown solo dev. That story is the premise of Fieldcraft: the next one is in the pile right now, and almost nobody is reading the pile.

So we automated the reading. Every morning, Fieldcraft finds every demo that went live on Steam yesterday — all of them, not a curated subset — scores each store page for craft and for how unusual its genre mix is, then starts measuring what can’t be faked: live player counts on the demo itself, the demo’s own reviews, follower growth. The few worth opening a tab for land in Scout, the daily brief, at 09:00 CET.

Two things make it different from the charts you already read. First, it’s leading signal: we flag demos before they have players or reviews — the moment when finding something is actually worth money — where SteamDB and the estimate platforms can only tell you about traction that already happened. Second, it’s accountable: every pick is frozen to a ledger the day it’s made and graded in public on the track record, misses included.

Fieldcraft is a solo operation, run from Amsterdam, built on public Steam data. It is not affiliated with Valve. It never takes payment for coverage — the whole asset is that the instrument doesn’t lie.
